Free access to gardens and complimentary lecture
To mark European Heritage Days 2025, Château de Flaugergues is opening its gardens to the public free of charge throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to stroll around and discover the variety of landscapes that make up the estate.
A lecture will be given on the exhibition ‘La Chambre de l’Aigle’ (The Eagle’s Chamber). It will be led by Marc Blanchard, former attaché to the cultural department of the French Embassy in Cairo, who will present the 1798 expedition to Egypt led by General Bonaparte. This event will explore history through the links between art, diplomacy and Napoleonic memory.

Guided tours of the Castle – special edition
As part of European Heritage Days, Château de Flaugergues is showcasing the Eagle Room during guided tours. This painted décor, created in 1990 by Diane de Montbron for the Colbert family, evokes the Egyptian campaign and General Bonaparte, as well as Richard de Saizieu, whose archives and personal belongings are preserved in the château’s collections.
Archival photographs, explanatory panels and a catalogue provide details about this unique setting, blending history and poetry.
